The Hollywood writers strike will come to a close early Wednesday morning, the Writers Guild of America told members on Tuesday.The union announced a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Sunday. The union’s negotiating committee, the Writers Guild of America West Board, and the Writers Guild of America East Council all voted unanimously to recommend members approve the deal.
The deal includes increases to minimum pay rates, a new residual for streaming services based on viewership, and regulations on the use of artificial intelligence. Streaming firms will also provide the union with data on the total number of hours streamed for “self-produced high budget streaming programs” like a Netflix original series.
