SAG-AFTRA has called for a strike as negotiations stall regarding the AI provisions with a bargaining group.

The call comes as videogame makers refuse to offer those in the videogame sector protections from AI.

One area seemingly most at threat from AI replacement is the arts. AI is being used to replace voice-over artists, graphic artists and many more who risk being replaced by AI. The union says that the bargaining group refuses to plainly affirm in clear language that they will protect performers in their AI language.

“The video game industry generates billions of dollars in profit annually. The driving force behind that success is the creative people who design and create those games. That includes the SAG-AFTRA members who bring memorable and beloved game characters to life, and they deserve and demand the same fundamental protections as performers in film, television, streaming, and music: fair compensation and the right of informed consent for the A.I.
