Amazon Bedrock Expands Anthropic Claude Model Availability to India and Asia-Pacific Regions
Amazon Web Services has announced the availability of Anthropic’s Claude models in multiple Asia-Pacific regions with enhanced data residency options, according to aws.amazon.com.
According to aws.amazon.com, Amazon Bedrock now offers Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, and Claude Haiku 4.5 in India through geographic cross-Region inference. The India regional endpoint routes requests only between the Mumbai (ap-south-1) and Hyderabad (ap-south-2) regions, keeping all data processing within India. According to the source, “The India geographic profile keeps inference within India. Requests route only between ap-south-1 and ap-south-2.”
Separately, aws.amazon.com announced that Amazon Bedrock now supports Claude Opus 5 and Claude Sonnet 5 in Seoul, and Claude Sonnet 5 in Singapore with in-region inference. Unlike the India implementation, these deployments use strict single-region processing. According to the source, “Your request is processed entirely within the single AWS Region you specify, and it does not leave that Region.”
The announcements target customers with local data processing requirements in sectors including financial services, healthcare, and the public sector. According to aws.amazon.com, the geographic cross-Region inference feature helps customers “achieve the scale of your AI applications” by distributing inference across multiple regions within a geography, while the in-region option addresses “strict data residency requirements.”
