Trump Rebrands AI as 'Super Intelligence,' Launches New Task Force

President Trump signed an executive order renaming AI as 'super intelligence' and created a Super Intelligence Force to coordinate federal efforts.

President Donald Trump has officially rebranded artificial intelligence as “super intelligence” through an executive order, according to TechCrunch. The order requires official U.S. representatives to use the new terminology instead of “artificial intelligence.”

The rebranding coincided with a White House meeting where major AI industry executives signed a “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities,” which TechCrunch described as “deeply non-binding” from a legal perspective. Trump characterized the pledge as “morally binding” rather than legally enforceable. According to TechCrunch, the pledge included a notable typo.

Trump also announced the formation of a Super Intelligence Force in a Sunday morning post on Truth Social. According to the announcement, the task force “is tasked with coordinating the effort of the Federal Government to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence, which many say is bigger than the Industrial Revolution, and the Internet.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that national intelligence director Jay Clayton will chair the Super Intelligence Force, effectively serving as the AI/SI czar. Vice chairs include Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. According to the Wall Street Journal, the task force has 120 days to produce a report on AI risks and opportunities.

Trump previously dismissed AI safety debates as a hoax created by “Radical Left Dumocrats,” according to TechCrunch.
