Perplexity has launched Teammates, a system of always-on AI agents designed for workplace tasks. The agents can take on multiple roles within a workspace while pulling from existing projects, skills and memory in Perplexity tools, according to The Verge.
Teammates integrate with Perplexity Computer, an AI system that can deploy agents on a user’s device to complete tasks. Perplexity says Teammates “build on top” of Computer by offering the ability to collaborate and complete “ongoing, large-scale work.”
Users can assign each Teammate different jobs that they can perform simultaneously. Perplexity notes that users can monitor Teammates’ progress through individual threads in the Perplexity app and interact with them in Slack.
The feature requires a subscription to Perplexity’s $200 per month Max plan. “Over time, we envision every org having hundreds of teammates working for each person,” Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas says on X.
The Verge reports that the launch puts Perplexity in competition with OpenAI and Anthropic, which offer similar work-focused AI agents.
